Mariam Akabor is the author of the Islamic Fiction book Flat 9, published by umSinsi Press, South Africa. Maryam is a postgraduate in English and Media Studies from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. Najiyah Diana Helwani is a teacher and freelance writer whose published credits include poetry and magazine and newspaper articles. Sophia's Journey: Time Warp 1857 is the first book in a planned historical fiction series and her first published Islamic fiction novel. Raised on the windswept prairies of Kansas, Najiyah's love of her American roots blends beautifully with her Islamic faith, and she strives to show people that the two are not mutually exclusive. Jamilah Kolocotronis is the author of the Echoes Series: Echoes, Rebounding, Turbulence, and Ripples (2008) (Older Teen/Adult) Jamilah is an American Muslim, married, and the mother of six sons. She has a doctorate in Social Science Education and has worked as a teacher in several Islamic schools in Northeastern USA. Umm Juwayriyah, also known as Veiled Writer, is a born and raised Muslim woman in her early twenties. She has been writing and performing Islamic inspired poetry and fiction for a number of years. She is the former assistant director and website creator for the Islamic Writers Alliance and currently the editor for the New England Muslim Sisters' Association. Nazaahah A. Amin is an aspiring artist/writer/designer. Her most important roles are being a dutiful servant to the Almighty, a grateful wife, and a devoted mother. Art, like writing has always been her lifelong passion. In 1997, Nazaahah published her first book, Let's Practice Our Deen: A Handbook for Young Muslim Women. In 2006, she wrote and published a children's book entitled, Jannah's Story. Nazaahah received a degree in Graphic Design from Morgan State University in 2003. Leila Abouzeid is a Moroccan author. She is a pioneer among her Moroccan contemporaries in that she writes in Arabic rather than in French and is the first Moroccan woman writer of literature to be translated into English. Samina Ali is an Indian-American author. Her debut novel was Madras on Rainy Days. Samina Ali was born in Hyderabad, India and emigrated with her parents to America when she was six months old. Growing up, she spent half of each year in India, where she also attended school. In 1993, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a B.A. in English. She received an M.F.A. from the University of Oregon. In 2005, Madras on Rainy Days was awarded the Prix du Premier Roman Etranger award from France and was also a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award in fiction. Leila Aboulela grew up in Khartoum, Sudan. She graduated from Khartoum University in 1985 and was awarded her Masters degree from the University of London. She lived in Dubai and Aberdeen where she stayed with her family and published most of her works. Currently she lives in Indonesia. She was awarded the Caine Prize for African Writing in 2000 for her short story “The Museum” and her novel Translator was nominated for the Orange Prize in 2002. She also authored Coloured Lights and MINARET.

Rafik Schami author of A Hand Full of Stars. Born in Damascus, Syria, 23 June 1946, son of a baker from an Arab-Christian (originally Aramaic) family. Schooling and university (diploma in chemistry) in Damascus. From 1965 wrote stories in Arabic. 1964-70 co-founder and editor of the wall news-sheet Al-Muntalak (The Starting-Point) in the old quarter of the city. In 1971 moved to Heidelberg and financed further studies by typical guest-worker jobs (factories, building sites, restaurants); began to learn German. Doctorate in Chemistry 1979. Began career in chemical industry. 1980 co-founder of the literary group Südwind and of the PoLiKunst movement. Full time author from 1982. Schami lives in Kirchheimbolanden with his Bavarian wife and son. He holds dual citizenship. Schami's books have been translated into 20 languages.

Achmat Dangor (born 1948 in Johannesburg) is a South African writer. His most important works include the novels Kafka's Curse (1997) and Bitter Fruit (2001), but he is also the author of three collections of poetry, a novella and a short-story collection. He is the winner of many literary prizes, including the South African Bosman prize for Kafka's Curse. Dangor is also an active development professional and has headed up various non-governmental organizations in South Africa, including the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. He is currently Director of Advocacy & Communications at the Joint United Nations Program on AIDS (UNAIDS) and lives in Geneva, Switzerland with his wife, Audrey, and young son Zakary.
